However, in addition to fresh air, you suddenly have new guests in the house!
Mosquitoes, wasps, bees, flies, spiders and other insects work diligently and look for their share of shade during the day, and they often smell and feel the food and water you use inside your home. One of the best solutions to combat pests of all kinds throughout the year, not just in the summer, is the implementation of insect screens inside the home.
Why choose an insect screen as protection against insects?
An insect screen is the best solution and weapon in the fight against insects and pests, and it works according to the principle that it is better to prevent than to treat a problem. If intruders can’t even enter your home, you will accordingly also have less other problems with them. At the same time, the insect screen itself will not have a negative effect on the flow of air or the flow of light inside your building.
You can install insect screens on doors and windows – whether they are balcony openings or garden or entrance doors, as well as standard windows or skylights. There is a suitable solution for every financial situation, as well as the shape and size of any window opening.

What types of insect screens are there?
Each model and type of insect screen can find its future owner depending on the required method of performance and installation. In some places, more complex and larger solutions are needed, whereas in some cases the simplest and at the same time the cheapest solutions are enough. Everything depends primarily on the built-in possibilities of the building, and if, for example, you are a tenant and not the owner of the building, you will need solutions that do not damage the original condition of the living space.
Below we will list some of the most popular types of insect screens that you can use in your home!
Fixed insect screens
This form of insect screen is one of the most convenient solutions for protection against insects. It is best applied on windows through which you do not need physical access of some kind, i.e. you do not need access to a windowsill, for example. However, even though it is fixed on the window frame, the mosquito net itself is always easy to remove again, so it is often removed from the window frame after the summer season. Since no additional action is performed upon the fixed insect screen, they often have a long functional life, and thanks to the high-quality mesh they are made of, they are also easy to maintain.
It can come in ALU or PVC profiles and has a pre-installed mesh on it that is resistant to external atmospheric influences, and doesn’t affect the flow of air or the passage of light in a negative fashion. A fixed mosquito net can be installed in several ways on existing window frames, and most often it involves Z-braces, clips, and screws.
Strip and magnetic insect screen
This is the ideal solution for renters who do not want to do work on the existing windows or doors of the apartment or house they are renting. No special tools are required, nor is anything drilled or irreversibly modified on the openings of the facility.
Before summer, you will usually be able to find strip insect screens at special prices in markets and retail chains. These are adhesive tapes that you place on the edge of the window, and then you attach the net to those adhesive tapes.

In the case of a purely magnetic insect screen, instead of the adhesive tape, magnets are attached to the edge of the window. At the same time, there are already built-in magnets on the net itself, and the net is attached to the edge of the window through them. At the end, the effect is the same as with adhesive tape, and depending on the number of magnets, it can be simpler and faster to install.
Rolled insect screens
As their name suggests, they are insect screens that roll into position and can be mounted on windows and doors. In the case of windows, rolling is usually done in the up-down direction, while in the case of doors, the direction goes from left to right. This is a big step up from fixed insect screens (as well as strip and magnetic versions for windows), since the insect screen can be used and removed as needed without moving the entire installation, and at the same time you have access to the entire opening where it is placed.
In the roller-insect screen, the anti-insect net slides along the guides and is rolled onto the tube in its specially mounted box. The entire system can be motorized with a remote control for an additional level of comfort.
Wing-rotating neck insect screens
This model of insect screen is placed in front of the door as an addition to the door and opens in the direction of door opening, most often in the outward direction. This means while walking through the door you practically pass through two layers of the door, and the winged insect screen automatically closes behind you and prevents pests from passing through.
It is most often used on balcony doors, terraces, gardens, or single-wing solutions. There exist also models for larger openings, however it is recommended to go for a horizontal roll option or a sliding model rather than a wing insect screen.
Sliding insect screens
As we mentioned a moment ago, this is the optimal solution for larger balcony openings or doors with much higher traffic. The sliding insect screen will allow you to open the door left and right without worry.
It is based on a single or double sliding guides, and in addition to classic single-wing and double-wing models, it can also have multi-wing systems. With its design and elegance, it will fit into all existing doors, i.e. it will “blend with them” considering that the sliding insect screen itself looks like a door with a mesh.
Plisse insect screen
This type of insect screen is more suitable for larger windows, doors as well as double-wing balcony openings. They have a similar mode of operation as the roller mosquito net, since they can be opened left-right or up-down. However, they differ in that the net is not collected in a box, but is collected and spread like an accordion, and the rope in the middle of the installation gives strength to the entire network.
They are of higher quality, more elegant and a better solution than roller insect screens, but often a more expensive variant. Due to its denser network, in addition to the battle against pests, it also helps against allergens and pollen.
Integrated insect screen
When you want to have complete control over the amount of light and noise entering the space, and at the same time prevent pests from entering your home, then an integrated insect screen is the best solution for you.
They can be incorporated into different shapes of shades, and the most preferred format is an integrated mosquito net on window shutters. Depending on the shuttermodel this form of insect screen can also be installed afterwards, which enables financial flexibility when purchasing a shutter.
When the insect screen is not needed, it simply disappears inside its cabinet, and some models also allow the use of a motor for remote control of the insect screen.

Forget about pests and insects with EUX integrated insect screens
EUX shutters enable the installation of vertical or horizontal insect screens in the window frame based on a simple push-in system. The insect screen itself is located between the window and the shutter, which enables the full use of all window functionalities.
